The ACS website is a
smorgasbord of information about cryonics, the American Cryonics Society
("ACS"), and the ACS suspension program. Established in 1969, the
American Cryonics Society is the oldest cryonics company. Besides supporting
research and public information, it sponsors a
suspension program where members complete all pre-need arrangements to be
frozen at death and kept in big liquid nitrogen freezer tanks (Dewars) for possible future reanimation. ACS has members
enrolled to be frozen who live in a number of countries. Articles by prominent cryonics advocates are presented
either directly on the site, or through links. Cryonics advocate Jim Yount presents a synopsis of the ACS suspension program, from
the time the reader first inquires through suspension and (perhaps) reanimation
in "Getting There from Here".

Paradoxes
have amused people for well over two thousand years. But unlike other kinds of
puzzles and brain teasers, paradoxes are not merely intellectual pastimes. They
raise serious issues in philosophy, logic, and mathematics, and therefore are
instructive as well. In this website, many of the most famous paradoxes, as
well as a few not so famous ones, are described. Among them are Zeno's
paradoxes, which appear to show that all change is an illusion, as well as paradoxes
of infinity, Newcomb's paradox, Hempel's ravens, the
ship of Theseus, and the paradoxes of time travel.
Some solutions are also proposed, though in most cases these are
shown to be less than completely satisfactory. Paradoxes are a great place to
start a more in-depth study of such topics as
space and time, identity, scientific method, and much
more. But of course, they are also fun and challenging in their own right, and
can be enjoyed as ends in themselves.
